It was a fine day today, fairly productive day at work and had a good evening at home as well. Went for a 30 minute bike ride in the evening through the park and neighborhood. I would like to get some more time in on the bike, riding it for an extended period of time and doing some light errands in the area on it instead of taking my car. That will require me getting a decent lock first, unfortunately many people are opportunistic and will take an unlocked bike. It is disappointing to live in a type of society where there is a complete lack of respect, ethics, or any sense of morality. We don’t live in a high crime area, but still there is petty crime such as theft and vandalism so I would not want to take a chance with my bike. It would be idyllic to live in a society where citizens have some respect for other individuals and able to pick up after themselves. There are many times when running or walking through the park I see random trash around, just dropped there, many times within view of a trash can nearby. I don’t understand the apathy of someone who can’t take a few seconds to deposit their trash in a bin or carry it with them and throw it away at home. That attitude ends up being a learned behavior by someone else and is then carried down to the next generation.
