I put a cup away today. It was sitting on the counter next to the sink because someone put it there to fill our dog’s water bowl. It is such a small detail, but drying it and putting it away made a small impact. After doing that I searched for other things that were away from their home. A pair of gloves someone used to wash the dishes was draped over the faucet, they went home under the sink. A pencil one of my kids was using to write with, it went home to the drawer. Even my jacket which I draped over the back of my chair was sent home to the closet. As I sent each item to their respective homes, space was freed up, flat surfaces became wide open again and the entire perspective of the room was changed. The items we keep should add value to our lives and serve a purpose but they also should have a home. Take a look around, not everything is where it should be. We let too many things linger in our lives, from our things, to our thoughts, and even to our relationships. Put things in their place and feel the space open up.
